Playrooms Demo Guide (Two Pixels Steam Trial Shift)
Free Playrooms Demo on Steam (Oct 12, 2026): ball pits, shifts, lights out, saves and demo-only locks, all taken from Two Pixels store text and patch notes.
What does the Playrooms Demo let you do?
The Playrooms Demo is Two Pixels UG’s free trial shift on Steam. Store copy matches the full game pitch: scoop up scattered balls, deposit them in collection basins (ball pits), and spend balls on equipment. Skills and shop programs on the desk PC sit in that loop; see skills and upgrades and tools.
The October 12, 2026 launch post says remaining areas stay locked until the full Playrooms release. That is the main confirmed boundary: you are not touring the whole facility yet.

One work shift in plain terms
Two Pixels describes a repeating shift, not a level select menu:
- Collect balls from the environment (store text mentions scoop, flashlight, and other gear as you afford them).
- Return balls to ball pits; pits can change color with deposits (October 14, 2026 patch note).
- Spend balls in skills.exe, shop.exe, and other PC programs from official screenshots.
- Watch the clock. When the shift ends, lights turn off row by row (see lights out).
- Stay in lit areas; what happens if you do not depends on difficulty mode.
October 20, 2026 notes add a visible stamina meter so exhaustion shows on screen.

Staying in the light during the Demo
After shift end, store About text says “the lights start to go out one by one” and “stay in the light!” October 13, 2026 patch notes add that light rows shut down more audibly, with volume scaling by distance from the row switching off.
Steam age descriptors warn of near-total darkness and jumpscares with sudden loud sound. Headphones and Custom Volume Controls are worth setting before your first night segment.
Demo vs full game (confirmed differences only)
| Topic | Demo (5246850) | Full game (5037510) |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | Coming soon, not free-flagged, no price in API |
| Storage | 4 GB | 10 GB |
| Controller | Full controller support tag | No full-controller tag on main listing |
| Saves | Save Anytime tag | Tag not listed on main page |
| Content scope | Trial shift; other areas locked per launch news | Full job; 200,000+ balls pitch |
| Support DLC | Not the Support DLC product | Optional Ballsweeper DLC listed separately |
Demo patches that touch controls, Lightmap Resolution, or skills UI are summarized on controls, performance, and skills because Two Pixels publishes those notes on the main app news feed.
Saves and loading (verified patch behavior)
The October 14, 2026 Demo update fixed loading when a collection pit was empty at end of shift (personnel-file wording). That is not a statement about cloud saves or retail transfer.
Whether Demo saves carry into the full build is still not documented.

Common Demo questions
Why does the game mention October 28, 2026? Demo launch and patch posts frame it as your permanent job start date, but they repeat October 28, 2026 at 7:00 PM CET, the same slot Two Pixels had set for the full Steam release. On October 28 they said the game would not launch that evening because Steam review was still incomplete; the October 30 post still gave no fixed date. See release date and price.
Does the Demo include Ballsweeper? Support DLC store text describes Ballsweeper as separate mini-game content. Demo store copy we checked does not promise that DLC.
Performance stutters when lights go out? Try Lightmap Resolution and the official Demo Player.log path in the lag and crashes guide.
